How I Got Into Web

Way back around 2004-05 while in high school a friend of mine built a simple website in a computer lab and it blew my mind. I thought that it was so cool that he built something that a web browser was displaying. I began tinkering around looking at some web stuff but at the time the web wasn’t my only interest. I had two other main focuses in high school and those were drafting and music. I looked forward to either drawing up plans for a house, or laying out a CAD rendering for a wheel, and then heading to band class to learn a new piece.

I was certain that I was going to go into architectural drafting but when I went to my first college I found out they had a program that could teach me the skills I needed to get into my favorite sport, NASCAR. I learned every piece of a race car from bumper to bumper and how to build, maintain, and custom fabricate and machine each component needed to go fast. While I was formally learning race cars, I was also checking out sites like w3 schools playing around with the web.

I graduated my first trip through college in the middle of the recession. The recession touched so many industries and being corporate sponsor driven NASCAR was hit and hit hard. Instead of hiring companies began laying off which force me to look for work elsewhere. I took my fabrication skills to an aluminum shop and began building signs instead race cars. Not my cup of tea.

A New Start

I was very discontented with my position at the sign shop so I started looking at my skills and options and realized that I really was enjoying the web. I already had people asking me if I could build them a website since I was “the computer guy” so I decided to go back to college for round two and get a degree in web development. I graduated with highest honors, was introduced to WordPress development and the rest is history.

In 2017 my wife and I were blessed to welcome our first child into the world. My wife and I are high school sweethearts and we have basically grew up together since the day we first met in band. We tried to hold off on marriage until our careers were started but both had detours that we had to take. It worked out fine though because we are currently living our happily ever after.?

I love attending NASCAR races. I enjoy attending any race for that matter. If it has wheels, a motor, and goes fast I want to watch it. I love racing.

My other hobby gets mixed reactions some think it’s cool, others are weirded out about it. I grew up in a family that loves to hunt, if you’ve never had deer tenderloin or smoked turkey that wasn’t farm raised you’re missing out. One thing that both sport hunters and hunters like me who do it for the fresh meat have in common is at some point you’re going to harvest an animal that you want to preserve. Even though I’m no longer a fabricator I still love doing things with my hands, I took that passion and my passion for the outdoors and started doing taxidermy. It’s something I enjoy doing and I enjoy getting better at and shaping my craft at.

Beyond my work, family, and beyond my hobbies the most important thing in my life is my faith.?

The Bible teaches us that we are in a fallen world full of sin. When you look around at all the shootings, war, riots, bickering and so on, it doesn’t take long to realize that the world we live in truly is fallen and full of sin.?

We each have to have our own personal relationship with Christ, mine started in 2008 after he began calling me to himself. I didn’t do anything to earn his salvation it was all by his mercy and grace.?

If you’re interested in what the bible says about this salvation, you’ll notice I have a fish icon in the footer of this site. The fish icon will link you to this verse on bible.com. That verse is Romans 10:9 and it summarizes salvation. So many verses could be added about the process of salvation, but that one gives a great summary. I’ll end by giving just a few verses.?

That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

John 3:15-21

For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.

1 Corinthians 7:10

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:9

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:1
